Food

Food, well it sure isn't what we are used too. Lots and lots of carbs, comfort food you might say. Potatoes, pasta, and more potatoes and pasta. Derek gets one free meal a day at a local restaurant so we go here everyday for lunch. I told him I am already sick of it. Everything is either chicken or pork too. Don't think we'll be having any steak over here. I will be ready for some flank steak in 8 months mom and dad!!

Lemonade, one of the only drinks served with ice. Water and pop don't have ice. You also have to pay for water.

Hockey

Well I am sure you are all interested to know more about the hockey since that is the reason we are here. Last weekend the boys had their first P.R event at a local "Folk Music Festival", we were expecting something much different than what it was. Outdoor concert with 3 huge stages, guessing somewhat similar to Sasquatch Festival, or Cochella, but it was not "Folk Music". It was very hard rock music, some bands being like death metal. Everyone there had on black, and looked quite goth. We stuck out a little to say the least. Part of the P.R part of the event was the boys playing in a giant human size Fooze ball game.

We were VIP's

Towards the end of the concert Derek's coach and the goalie Adam, who reminds us a lot of Brandon, got on stage and played guitar with one of the bands. It was pretty fun and cool. There were photographers all over the place, we kinda feel like celebrities already. The coach said after the first game, everyone will start to recognize us, and come up to Derek on the street to ask questions etc. We've heard the fans here are crazy so we will soon see. The boys have their first game on Friday, against their farm team. Should be fun to see!!

The rink is quite old, lots of history!!

The team has lots of sponsors, and they have ads all over, including on their jerseys!

Downtown Szekesfehervar

Szekesfehervar is a beautiful little city. It has so much history, as it is over 1000 years old. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of the city so far.
made from "clucks & hens" made me think of mom and home
These steeples were everywhere and they reminded me of St. Al's in Spokane
Street signs we can't even begin to read
 Old statues are everywhere!
The doors to all the buildings are beautiful!
 Clock made from flowers !

The streets are all cobblestone, very old and cool

Hungary so far ..

Hello! greetings from Hungary! We have been here for a few days now, and we are finally settled into our new home for the next 8 months. It is quite nice, but the kitchen is tiny. We have a mini fridge (which kinda stinks, not much room for food) and a mini stove too. It's gas but you have to light it with a match each time you want to use it. Our bathroom is ok, the washing machine is in with the tub, and sink, no dryer. And the toilet has its own little room. Something about the toilets here are different, and they smell almost like an outhouse. It must be something with the plumbing, because the one in the hotel stunk too. Glad it has its own room. Our bedroom is quite large, and we have plenty of room for storage which is nice. The living room is pretty big also. I think we could accommodate at least 3 maybe 4 people here at once :)

We also got our car. Its a little hatchback called a Skoda. Very European but gets good gas mileage. However it is a stick so I need to learn how to drive it! :(
