We spent the rest of our weekend in Trieste Italy. Its a seaport In northeastern Italy, and is situated on a strip of land between the Adriatic Sea, and Italy's border with Slovenia. It was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy (Austrian Emperors) from 1382-1918. We visited Miramare Castle which was built from 1856-1860 for Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximillian and his wife. The castle sits right on a cliff, and seashore park of 54 acres. It was so beautiful, and situated in such a gorgeous location. I could see why they would have built there so long ago.
We also spent some time at the Piazza dell' Unita d'Italia right in the center of Trieste. It's where the town hall is located, and all the walking streets, and shopping. We had a awesome lunch there Monday before heading home. We had a great trip, and would definitely recommend Trieste to all of our friends. Hopefully next year we have a few more visitors. Open invitation to anyone who would like to come!!
